What is Glue Ear?
Glue Ear is a very common condition that affects nearly 200,000 children in the UK annually. It is caused when the Eustation tube, which connects the inner ear to the back of the throat, does not function properly. A vacuum forms in the inner ear that causes fluid to build up behind the ear drum. If this fluid is unable to drain away, it becomes sticky and glue like, causing hearing loss.
